Game Research - Scary Girl by Nathan Jurevicius
Scary Girl is a game about a girl who goes out on an adventure to find out who the stranger she had dreamt about is.

Every game has to have a story and its always told at the beginning of the game. Scary Girl is unlike most games which makes it unique. Instead of telling the full story of the game, a short clip is shown before the protagonist wakes and the game starts. Everything about the game is shown visually rather than orally. Which is pretty creative and catchy. Instead of actual words spoken, featured animations are used for interactions and so on. At first, i was at a loss to what the game was about and only knew the aim. It was kind of frustrating.

[A/N]the fact that the game uses animated features and illustrations to interact is mindblowing. This gives players the chance to use their imagination in the game and try to figure out the mysteries of the game. But it was kinda hard for me cause im not a very imaginative person. So trying to understand the game was challenging.

 I often lose myself in the world of Scary Girl. The art in the game is just so amazing and filled with various hidden details. The graphic and colors that were used brings out a goth like theme- I really like it, it's eye grabbing(xD). I think the characters in the game are really adorable, kinda reminds me of that cartoon Caroline, but less creepy and no button for eyes. 

  The control are simple, using the arrows on your keyboards, UP, DOWN, LEFT, RIGHT and SPACE to talk or attack. Each levels in the game is hard, so don't be fooled into thinking that if you clicked on easy, the levels will be easy to complete. You're WRONG! 
[You'd probably disagree with me but I'm a sore loser when it comes to games so...bleh...]

 The challenge in this game is to not die and it's kinda hard not to, even if you're playing at an easy level. The mission in this game is actually really simple. All the player has to do is find certain characters in the game, who then shows you where you have to go in order to move into the next level. Avoid the one-eyed spiky things(who are really annoying), collect the fishes and treasure and you're good to go.

[A/N]Scary Girl is a pretty fun game to play...when you've passed each level without dying. You'd be surprise at the sounds players make when their playing this game though, its pretty entertaining.

Forest Marathon The game is set outdoor where the protagonist collects acorns. I had thought the game would be along the lines of running in the forest; like how the game Sonic Dash has that blue creature running down a lane filled with obstacles that needs to be avoided. Plus the title is literally called 'Forest Marathon' surely its got something  to do with...running..? Turns out, it was nothing like it at all- which is kind of disappointing. The protagonist of the game just had to find 5 acorns in order to move to the next level. This continues until she finds the big acorn then the game ends there. It was shocking to see that the majority of our audience -who answered the  monkey survey based on gaming- were females!! I had made the assumption that males would take the lead in playing video games instead of females. World Building

Task 7-  Now its time to design your world!     -I want to base my game on the Cook Islands, I'm planning on using the different tourist attractions in my game for my island(world), e.g Atiu - Island of birds and underground caves, Mauke - underwater caves, Aitutaki - beautiful lagoon. Uses of colors in Avaiki - My game will have two worlds; the real world Avaiki and the parallel one(still trying to find a name) Both my worlds will be set on islands, they would obviously have similar appearances but the differences to the real and parallel world will be made obvious.  The game will be set within the parallel world( Avaiki will be in the intro of my game, its actual starter will be when the protagonist enters the parallel world)  I've envisioned a 'Alice in wonderland' kind of theme/world.
