Character development
Poerava
The main character.
I chose this name because it's a name for both genders, i was thinking of giving my players the option of choosing their own gender -but still have the same name- , sadly the thought was crushed by second thoughts. My characters' a female now, which could be a good thing for my target audiences whom are females.
Poerava won't have any special powers or anything, I want her to be just an ordinary brown-skinned person. -a maori without an identity. the game is about finding your identity and heritages therefore the only type of ability she will have is to be able to wield the weapons she receives.
Mistress
The first character Poerava meets. She is the wise lady whom tells Poerava how to get back home. The mistress in the legend 'lady and the bird' was claimed to be missing when in reality she went into hiding cause she thought her husband didn't love her anymore. In my game she lost her way because she has a bad sense of direction. She doesn't have any special powers.

So i've envisioned her as an maori lady in her mid thirties. She wears an Rauti skirt and wrap. {her clothes are big leaves smartly braided into a skirt and wrap.
Ina
In the legend she is the protagonist, however, in my game I've turned her into the bad guy/girl/person. She is the one who controls the eels. Her powers comes from two things: The giant eel and the necklace. Ina in the legends is a young woman, but I've changed her appearance into a little girl, probz the age of a 6 year old.

Katikatia
Extremely beautiful lady with a beautiful voice. However her personality is the opposite. This woman is the ultimate enemy in the game. She will be the enemy that will be the hardest to defeat.
Katikatia in our legend is a cannibal- she lures children into her cave and eats them- so in my game, she's introduced as an extremely beautiful lady but when her true colors are shown she is like a shadowy skeleton.
Additional characters:

These are the minions and the little warriors, whom are the obstacles in my game. They are the annoying characters that you must get rid of in order to collect certain stuff. Also the ones who will get give you points.
Extra note: There are some upgrades or power ups in the game. They are in the form of plants, animals and objects.
- Scrolls and pieces of clues are scattered in the areas the protagonist will be in.
